Ms. Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, announces measures to support young designers in the field of fashion
This Thursday, January 23, Ms. Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, visited the “SPHERE Paris Fashion Week” showroom of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM), located in the Palais de Tokyo, to meet the young designers of the brands presented. On this occasion, the Minister announced measures to support young designers in the field of fashion:
1-Privileged access for young designers to places to present their collections, which is a central issue for young brands. To meet this need and as an extension of SPHERE at the Palais de Tokyo, the Ministry of Culture and the FHCM will work to identify spaces to host fashion shows and presentations by young designers included in the official Paris Fashion Week calendar.
2-The renovated premises of the Ministry of Culture, such as the Quadrilatère des Archives, will be considered in particular.

MEASURES OF GRANTS SUPPORTING YOUNG FASHION DESIGNERS ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER RACHIDA DATI
1-The creation of a fashion residency at the Villa Medici including a €10,000 production grant and a restitution. A fashion designer will be hosted for a month at the Villa Medici, then will be supported by the French Fashion Institute with the Haute Couture and Fashion Federation and the support of DEFI.
2-The creation of three new grants funded by the Ministry of Culture to strengthen its support for creation and research in fashion:
A grant for a new “Stage Costume” in the amount of €20,000 to support a young fashion designer in dialogue with a young choreographer. They will be supported by Chaillot - Théâtre national de la danse and the Centre national du costume et de la scène;
1-The creation of a fashion residency at the Villa Medici including a €10,000 production grant and a restitution. A fashion designer will be hosted for a month at the Villa Medici, then will be supported by the French Fashion Institute with the Haute Couture and Fashion Federation and the support of DEFI.

5- A call for projects for young creation. The criteria of the annual “fashion” call from the Ministry of Culture will be redefined to support young fashion designers on the French scene as a priority and allow them to increase their visibility. The overall allocation for this call for projects is €200,000.
4- A “Creation in Fashion” grant of €10,000 per year for 3 years, intended for a young researcher whose work focuses on the prospective and innovative dimension of fashion creation.
5- A call for projects for young creation. The criteria of the annual “fashion” call from the Ministry of Culture will be redefined to support young fashion designers on the French scene as a priority and allow them to increase their visibility. The overall allocation for this call for projects is €200,000.
These new support measures strengthen the action of the Ministry of Culture, which has been supporting young fashion designers since 1989 with the ANDAM awards and the International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Fashion Accessories, which will celebrate its 40th edition this year.
